PIANISTI – Jenny Lin (sito "Furcht pianoforti")

È dall'età di dieci anni che la pianista taiwanese–americana Jenny Lin ha iniziato ad attrarre l'attenzione del pubblico, dopo aver vinto il Concorso nazionale di pianoforte di Taiwan, più giovane partecipante nella storia della concorso, con un programma che includeva le variazioni ABEGG di Schumann e il concerto per pianoforte e orchestra K488 di Mozart. In seguito a questo successo, ricevette l'invito a studiare in Europa alla Hochschule fur Musik und darstellende Kunst di Vienna col prof.Noel Flores. Tenne poi concerti per la Chopin Society, debuttando a Vienna. Nel 1987, Jenny Lin andò a studiare negli Stati Uniti al Peabody Conservatory of Music col prof. Julian Martin. Negli USA ricevette l'Artist Diploma in musica, e l'interesse verso la letteratura tedesca la portò poi alla Johns Hopkins University. Nel 1994 si stabilì a Ginevra dove si perfezionò col pianista Dominique Weber e ricevette il voto più elevato (Prix de virtuosité, "mention excellent, avec distinction et felicitations du jury"). Ha inoltre lavorato con diversi pianisti celebri quali Michele Campanella, Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode, Andrzej Jasinski, Vitaly Margulis, Lev Naumov, e Gyorgy Sebok. classificatasi seconda nell'edizione 1996 del concorso pianistico Jose Iturbi International di Valenza (Spagna), vince nel 1997 il primo premio al concorso pianistico internazionale "Citta di Cantù", con l'esecuzione del terzo concerto per pianoforte e orchestra di Rachmaninov. Sempre nello stesso anno vince un premio speciale alla seconda edizione del concorso "Umberto Micheli" di Milano.
Jenny Lin ha suonato con l'Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale di Taiwan, l'Orchestra da Camera di Musica Contemporanea di Taipei, con la Soviet-American Orchestra, l'Interlochen Festival Orchestra, la Chamber Orchestra di Filadelfia, l'Orchestra Sinfonica di Valenza, il Contrechamps Ensemble di Ginevra e la Nurnberger Symphoniker. Ha dato concerti solistici negli Stati Uniti — ricordiamo quelli al Kennedy Center di Washington e alla Carnegie Recital Hall di New York; inoltre in Austria, Canada, Italia, Polonia, Russia, Spagna, Svizzera (tra i questi un concerto per più di 6000 bambini a Winterthur), e Taiwan — in particolare un recital per il presidente Lee.
Jenny Lin ha finora registrato per la Radio Svizzera in diverse dirette (pianoforte solo e musica Futurista). Al suo primo CD (Sonata di Liszt Sonata in si minore e Fantasia di Schumann in do maggiore), edito dalla Sunrise Records nel 1997, è stato conferito il "Best Performer Prize" del 1998 al Golden Music Award di Taiwan.

Young American pianist Jenny Lin's international recognition began at an early age. Born in Taiwan, she came to public attention at age ten when she presented a concert that included Schuman's Abegg Variations and Mozart's Piano Concerto in A Major K 488. This performance won her an invitation to study in Vienna with Professor Noel Flores, followed by concerts throughout Austria, including her debut at Vienna's City Hall and recitals for the Chopin Society of Europe.

Jenny Lin's latest CD, "Chinoiserie", was chosen as "Disc of the month" in July 2000 by the music magazine classicsToday.com and praised by the international press, with enthusiastic reviews from "Klassik Heute" (October 2000), "Fanfare" (September/October 2000), "Denver Post" (July 30, 2000), "San Francisco Examiner" (July 2000), among others. Released worldwide by the Swedish label BIS, the CD includes works by Western composers inspired by China, such as John Adams, Gioacchino Rossini, Alexander Tcherepnin, Leo Ornstein, Morton Gould, and Bohuslav Martinu. Her first CD (Liszt' Sonata in b minor and Schumann's Fantasie in C Major), released by Sunrise Records in 1997, was awarded the "Best classical CD Prize" at the 1998 Golden Music Awards. In addition, Jenny Lin has recorded several live performances for the Swiss Radio and various television networks from Taiwan. Her recitals, chamber music concerts and solo appearances with orchestras took her worldwide. In the United States, she made her debuts at Carnegie Recital Hall, and at Washington's Kennedy Center. She was also heard in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain, Belgium, and Switzerland, where she performed a series of concerts for more than 6000 children. In Asia, she appeared in Hong Kong, Japan and performed in Taiwan for the President. Aside from the classical and romantic piano literature, Jenny Lin enjoys programming rare and unknown masterpieces as well as modern and contemporary composers (Roslavetz, Scriabin, Cowell, Ornstein, Lourié, Messiaen, Donatoni, Sciarrino, Ligeti...). As a result of her interest in the new music, Jenny Lin has commissioned a solo piano piece from the acclaimed Italian composer Stefano Gervasoni — "Studio di disabitudine" —, a work she premiered at the Ars Musica Festival, Brussels, in March 2000. Jenny Lin won top prizes in several international competitions such as "José Iturbi", Valencia, Spain, "Città di Cantù" and "Umberto Micheli", Milano, Italy. She studied with Julian Martin at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore (Artist Diploma), and with Dominique Weber in Geneva. She has also worked with important pianists and pedagogues such as Martha Argerich, Michele Campanella, Richard Goode, Andrzej Jasinski, Vitaly Margulis, Lev Naumov and György Sebök. Ms. Lin currently resides in New York City.
